Highlights from Specialty & Custom Chemicals America 2019

Those that attended Specialty & Custom Chemicals America 2019 in Fort Worth, Texas found it to be successful due to the geographical location, new initiatives, and networking opportunities.

The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) partnered with Chemicals America for the first time to host a new event – Specialty & Custom Chemicals America in Fort Worth, Texas. The Capital Resin team was thrilled to attend the newly expanded show, where we had the opportunity to network with a variety of Texas and Western Manufacturing companies. Those that attended enjoyed the location, learning new initiatives, and various networking opportunities.

Optimal Location for the Chemical Industry

SOCMA and Chemicals America chose Fort Worth because of its charm and lively downtown scene, with big-city amenities and numerous upscale restaurants, shopping and other cultural attractions. Fort Worth is also known for the Dallas Cowboys and because of this SOCMA hosted a “Cowboys and Chemicals” kick-off dinner before the event. This was an evening that provided the opportunity to network with SOCMA members and others attending in the industry before the show.

SOCMA Launches New Initiatives

SOCMA, a lobby ground for small and medium sized chemical manufacturers, is taking the initiative on a more hands-on approach to adding value for their members by better connecting people with toll manufacturers that offer their desired capabilities. As a member of SOCMA, it was enjoyable to see their massive presence at the show and that their primary goal was to host an event that created more value for its members and affiliates.

Networking Opportunities and Takeaways

The event offered networking sessions and featured keynote speaker Kelly Hancock. Our favorite session was titled “Women’s Networking Coffee.” This networking opportunity focused on encouraging women to take on leadership roles in the chemical industry. Judie Wensinger, C.E.O of Capital Resin and her daughters who are board members, encourage women to grow into leadership roles within the company and chemical industry.
